Summer Internship with the Lieber Institute

The Lieber Institute’s summer internship program is an intensive, full-time experience designed to provide research experience and mentorship to undergraduate students who are interested in the neurosciences, especially as related to understanding the molecular and cellular basis of neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders. The program provides an excellent opportunity for those interested in gaining experience prior to beginning graduate school and studying in the biosciences. Students are encouraged to explore ongoing areas of research interest on Lieber Institute’s main web page.

Key Dates

The application deadline is March 7, 2022. Students will be notified of acceptance on a rolling basis, but all decisions will be communicated by March 14.

Eligibility:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident that is currently enrolled in an accredited US college or university.
  • Must be enrolled in undergraduate studies in a degree-granting university or college.
  • Must be able to start on May 23 or June 6, and able to commit to the full nine-week program. Interns are expected to work full time.

Internship Activities:

In addition to working as part of a research group within the Institute, interns will have the opportunity to attend scientific lectures, participate in summer institute events, and interact with other interns, students, and researchers.

Compensation:

Interns will receive a stipend for the nine-week internship based on working 35 hours per week at $15/hr.

Housing:

Housing is not provided as part of the internship program. Interns are fully responsible for securing housing arrangements for the internship.

Parking and Transportation:

Parking is not provided or reimbursed for interns. Interns will have complimentary access to the Johns Hopkins shuttle.
