The health of a company’s culture is effected by the quality of leadership, communications and level of trust and respect that exists between executives, management and staff, and is often a factor that determines a great place to work, happy customers and the company’s marketplace success. Healthy cultures need regular preventative care, and if neglected can start to become ill through poor leadership behaviors, inadequate internal communications and uncivil behaviors between colleagues and managers. Join us for this interactive discussion to elevate your awareness of these pitfalls and what you can do to mitigate their effect when it occurs and steps to take to prevent them from reoccurring.

About the Speaker

Tom Thomson, Founder and Managing Principal, T. Thomson and Associates, is a communication strategist and business advisor with 25+ years in the U.S. and international marketplace serving multiple industry sectors, non-profits and government. He is a problem solver and can work effectively with C-Suite executives and line staff to develop leadership and communication strategies to solve problems and to maximize opportunities. He advises companies on how to align business strategy with mission and vision to effectively communicate with key external audiences essential to their success and with internal audiences to increase employee productivity, collaboration and retention. Tom works with large companies, but is passionate about helping small and medium size enterprises and startups venture CEOs build sustainable businesses, become effective leaders and communicators and grow revenues in the domestic and global marketplaces. He is also a mentor with the Venture Mentoring Service, a program offered by the Maryland Tech Council.

Prior to this, Tom held senior executive positions at a Washington, DC-based international government relations and strategic communications consultancy and headed the firm’s Moscow, Russia office for over a decade. He was also instrumental in founding an international coalition dedicated to improving IP laws and enforcement practices in the countries of the former Soviet Union. Tom was a co-founder of a boutique international corporate relations and communications consulting business that served international businesses active in Russia and Eurasia, and the founder of a U.S.-based public affairs and political campaign management firm. Tom’s career started as a clinical social worker in community mental health programs, an education and experience that he credits with teaching him the importance of clear communications and interpersonal skills for working with people from all walks of life and personalities.
