SUMMARY:UnMasked: We all Breathe - A Film Exploring the Dark Truth Behind MDR-TB
DESCRIPTION:Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has been in the headlines lately\, but drug-resistant tuberculosis – the leading contributor to AMR-related deaths and the only airborne drug-resistant epidemic –is typically missing from these discussions. DR-TB takes a major toll on people\, families and communities\, as well as on the global economy (~$20 billion/year)\, and also poses a major threat to global health security. In fact\, only one in three cases of DR-TB are diagnosed – and every untreated person can infect up to 15 additional people over the course of a year. \nUnMasked helps to shed light on this all-too-overlooked disease. Following the screening\, a panel of experts including Alan Tennenberg\, Chief Medical Officer\, Global Public Health\, Johnson & Johnson\, and Sally Allain\, Head\, JLABS @ Washington\, DC\, will join other thought leaders to discuss the importance of innovation – both in the lab and on the ground in high-burden countries – to address 21st century global health security threats. \n
