During this four-day course, attendees will learn how to lead a Lean-Agile transformation by using the practices and principles of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and the seven core competencies of the Lean Enterprise.

Attendees will practice how to coach programs, launch Agile Release Trains, create a DevOps culture to build a Continuous Delivery Pipeline, and empower a Lean Portfolio. The first two days of the course—Leading SAFe®—provide the basis to teach SAFe to leaders.

The final two days focus exclusively on what it takes to successfully implement SAFe in the enterprise. Becoming a change agent and a Certified SAFe® 5 Program Consultant (SPC) enables attendees to coach and guide the enterprise toward success in a disruptive marketplace and empowers them to implement a Lean-Agile SAFe transformation.

Trainers

John Miller, SPCT

John has been working in the complex systems development world for over 20 years. When he realized that the problems of large organizations could be solved by combining the use of fundamentals from Lean, Agile, DevOps, Systems Management, Engineering, and other practices, he dove into understanding and using SAFe®. He became a certified SPC in 2013 and a certified SPCT in 2018. John is the co-creator of a Lean Agile Budgeting and several other courses designed to help Senior Leadership in large organizations understand and improve the financial side of their Value Streams and ARTs. He has been involved with many organizational transformations and has launched dozens of ARTs and Solution Trains. He invests his time working with Senior Leadership expanding an organizations SAFe implementation, and working with Leadership, Portfolio Groups, and Program teams. He provides both private and public training on SAFe®, Engineering, and Leadership courses. John is a life-long learner who is more than willing to chat about the next book you might consider reading. John is aligned with The Eliassen Group.

Charlene Newton, SPCT

Charlene Newton is a Lean Agile Coach and SPCT candidate with over 20 years of experience in management and technology. Her passion is coaching leadership and teams to optimize time to market and business value. Her goal is to transform the flow of value and our way of working to help enterprises thrive in this age of digital disruption. She empowers knowledge workers and their executive leaders by modeling transparent communication, lifelong learning and continuous improvement in people, processes, and tools. Charlene is in a unique position to align business and IT as she has lived and worked in both worlds: first as a developer, then as Senior Program Manager and next as Director of Marketing and Sales followed by agile roles as Product Owner, Scrum Master, Architect Team Lead, RTE, and Enterprise Agile Coach. Her favorite two hour read is John Kotter’s That’s Not How We Do It Here about clans of meerkats in the Kalahari desert.
