Maryland Tech Council Events

The Maryland Tech Council (MTC) hosts events throughout the year that attract speakers and attendees from across the state and throughout the country. Each of our events are categorized within special interest areas that serve as pillars of the Maryland Tech Council’s mission. Choosing events within these areas enables you to direct your dollars to targeted groups of technology and life science leaders. We produce events of all sizes from large-scale celebrations that reach a diverse audience through smaller events that are focused on specific topics and encourage thoughtful discussion. Presented by the Maryland Technology Council, Bio+Tech17 reflects the changing landscape where life science and technology converge by bringing together more than 600 professionals in both fields so that they may meet and forge new partnerships that will lead to great new discoveries. In its second year, Bio+Tech17 Conference will continue to bring together the life science and technology sectors to meet and leverage the talents of the other to grow their organizations and their industry.

The TCM Industry Awards Celebration (IAC) is the only awards ceremony that honors the best in Maryland’s technology and life science communities and is one of Maryland’s largest and most prestigious award ceremonies. For 29 years, this event has recognized the work of individuals and companies that have changed the landscape of their industries and have ultimately touched the lives of millions of people. Awards go to those who develop the treatments, design the systems, and teach the children. It’s a celebration of great minds and the companies that believe in the future, and is attended by over 800 executives from the technology and life science industries, drawing a significant amount of local and national publicity.

Now in its 5th year, the Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to individuals who have gone above and beyond over the course of their career to serve the technology and life science community. Recipients display commitment and leadership both in the field and within their organizations. The individual fosters new ideas and encourages creativity and also demonstrates generosity and compassion, ensuring that their work benefits others.

The Tech Council, in conjunction with the Maryland legislative session, hosts an annual Leadership Dinner in Annapolis to bring together the region’s leadership in the technology and life science industries. As you hear about the issues facing the legislature and our community, we will also engage you in the call to action as TCM plans its next steps through the session. TCM’s Board of Directors and members of the state General Assembly will be with us. This is always a valuable opportunity to cement relationships with peers, discuss industry trends, and learn about TCM’s upcoming Policy Priorities.

The Roundtable Series focus on topics that are of interest to small and mid-sized businesses. Roundtables meet throughout the year, with each program headlined by a prominent industry leader. Tech Council roundtables give sponsors the opportunity to directly engage with their potential clients through small group educational discussions about important industry issues. By design, MTC roundtables are an educational asset to our membership. Topic driven, these small, but inclusive programs, allow our members to interact with experts in an environment that encourages discussion and learning. Roundtable topics have included cybersecurity, technology transfer, intellectual property, small business, workforce and Health IT. We always welcome ideas for roundtables on additional topics.

Forum Groups are member-driven group that meet regularly throughout the year to discuss and exchange resources on a given topic of interest to the technology community and also host quarterly guest speaker or panelist discussions and events. These educational exchange forums are a value-added member benefit. Groups include B2G, Commercial Cyber, Finance, Health IT and Women in Technology. The Tech Council welcomes ideas for additional forums of interest to our membership.
